Its Belly Button Lint

Finished reading: Looking for Rachel Wallace by Robert B. Parker ๐Ÿ“š Easily my least favorite of the series so far.

Finished reading: In Harm’s Way by Doug Stanton ๐Ÿ“š

Reading Notes From Truman by David McCullough Great quote from Roosevelt mentioned in the book: “To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected.” About sums up my feelings about the baby boomers and younger generations. Upon leaning that Roosevelt had died as โ€ฆ

Finished reading: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien ๐Ÿ“š

Finished reading: Truman by David McCullough ๐Ÿ“š Iโ€™ve got notes for a full post, but what an interesting and delightful read.

Finished reading: Peace of Mind by Seneca ๐Ÿ“šSecond time reading through this and still super dense to me. Need to watch some Sadler lectures on it.

Finished reading: Killing Floor by Lee Child ๐Ÿ“š Meh, it was OK. I’ve heard good things about the series so may try one more book.

Finished reading: Walking the Old Road by Staci Lola Drouillard ๐Ÿ“š

Watched: Edge of Tomorrow ๐ŸฟI’ve been wanting to see this for years! Fun movie I’m glad I finally got to watch.

Finished reading: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay (with bonus content) by Michael Chabon ๐Ÿ“šWhat a fantastic book. I’ve never read a bad Chabon story yet.

Well my long nightmare is over. Typing this up for others as they may encounter the same thing. My setup: Raspberry Pi 4 Debian 13 trixie t3.micro EC2 in AWS EcoWitt Pippboy EcoWitt GW1000 WeeWx 5.2 Belchertown 1.4 GW1000 0.6.3 Python 3.13.5 The main issue was that WeeWX runs as the weewx system โ€ฆ

WeeWx 5.2 Upgrade Woes

Finished reading: The Miracle Morning (Updated and Expanded Edition) by Hal Elrod ๐Ÿ“š This book was awful. I’d rather face a lifetime of unproductive mornings than to have to read this tripe again.

Watched: Inside Man ๐ŸฟFun little movie, good cast.

Watched: Spy Game ๐Ÿฟweird movie but happy to watch a Redford flick.

Finished reading: New York to Nome by Bonanza Publishing ๐Ÿ“šwhat a fun read! Starting a major research project on this book now that I hope to have a finished website for.

Watched: Idiocracy ๐Ÿฟ

Finished reading: The Stench of Honolulu by Jack Handey ๐Ÿ“š What an odd read. It’s like someone tried to make a novel out of jokes. It was definitely funny at times though!

Charles H Mertensotto Camping Meals

Update I wrote this on Januray 17th, 2020. Since that time, that table has moved homes with me to northern MN, and now hosts dinners for my wife and I and our two small children. I hope Mr. Mertensotto is happy knowing its seeing a lot of use still and gets used to plan plenty of hiking and outdoors โ€ฆ

Watched: The Martian ๐Ÿฟ First movie I’ve watched in ages. Looking forward to tracking what I do watch!

Finished reading: Education of a Wandering Man by Louis L’Amour ๐Ÿ“š Definitely had interesting bits but was largely a rambling stream of consciousness walk through of books he read and where.

Waxed Canvas Plash Palatka

I cant remember where I first learned about the Plash Palatka (Russian for raincoat tent), I think I came across it when I was searching for cheap surplus poncho tents at some point in the past. I ordered one off of ebay cheap and then promptly let it sit for about a year before I finally got around โ€ฆ

Waxed Canvas Plash Palatka

Finished reading: The Judas Goat by Robert B. Parker ๐Ÿ“š Probably the worst of the series thus far. They’re easy reads though and this one was OK enough. It is fun to read them and think back to what life was like in the 70s because these have aged poorly in a lot of ways.

Finished reading: Stranger Than We Can Imagine by John Higgs ๐Ÿ“š The first half was great and very interesting. Higgs connected random things that would make a modern day Obsidian productivity porn addict jealous. The second half got a bit looser and philisophical but overall it was a decent read.

Quiet Please What a fun and original old-timey radio show to come across. The sound quality can be rough on some of the surviving episodes, you have to really focus for some of them to get whats coming through, but they are a blast to listen to. This site - www.quietplease.org is by far the most โ€ฆ

Hyalophora Cecropia

Hyalophora Cecropia Years ago I was out walking my dog and came across this creature. It appears to be the caterpillar of a Hyalophora Cecropia Which is North Americas largest moth! The thing was easily 4-5 inches long. Apparently it did not smell good though as my dog wasn’t interested in it. โ€ฆ
